Cassi Torres

Soprano Cassi Torres has been using the Gill Mindful Voice Teaching Tools since 2009. A South Texas born & raised performer, Cassi specializes in Musical Theatre, Jazz, Pop, & Children’s Voices. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and immediately following graduation, Cassi was accepted into the Graduate Music Theatre program at New York University. She received her Master of Music in Vocal Performance – Music Theatre, and Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from NYU. She has worked on a variety of different projects including commercials, readings of new Musicals and Operas, & acting in Film, Theatre, & TV productions. She is also an accomplished director and music director with productions including Rodger and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, The Pirates of Penzance, & In The Heights. Her favorite acting roles include Casilda (The Gondoliers), Lucy (You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown), & Maria (West Side Story), & Ramona (Basic Glitch – Off-Broadway). Cassi was also a featured artist at the South Texas Jazz Festival, a guest artist with the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra, & a backup singer to Grammy-Nominated Artist Chandrika Tandon. She served as a Professional Assistant Professor of Music at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi & Adjunct Faculty at New York University’s Steinhardt School teaching private and group voice classes, as well as large lecture music history courses. Cassi is also a certified Yoga & Hula Hoop Instructor. (Yea, it’s a thing…) Cassi lives in NYC where she continues to perform while also maintaining a private studio and masterclass schedule. As a vocal instructor, Cassi believes that each person’s voice can be cultivated to showcase natural beauty by committing to process of building their vocal instrument. As the muscles get more coordinated, the singer’s innate musicality & communicative ability will shine. A solid technique is the key that unlocks vocal health, efficiency, & sustainability.
